TGIF

I got my haircut yesterday and I think I really like it, but am adjusting to it being short and having bangs! Will put up a picture soon, in just not sure I can post a selfie :/

Also, we went and toured a birthing center here yesterday because I'm wanting to have a water birth. I am a little stressed because it is going to cost us almost twice as much as a hospital birth because it is "out of network" for our insurance. It's quite stressful switching providers 5.5 months into pregnancy. I will be calling our insurance back with more questions.

Then late last night, I picked my mom up at the airport. She always comes in for my boys birthdays and makes them feel extra special!

TGIF and we are planning to be tourists in our new city by visiting the river walk tonight. It's perfect weather here- 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! The river walk was great- there was not even a wait for a table on the river. The boys had a great time and were exhausted and in bed by 8pm!

We ran to Party City for balloons, then to Target for a toy, and then made J cupcakes tonight for his birthday tomorrow- he will be 2!

Museum Trip

The boys slept together last night!!! So excited about that, I even went in and snapped a picture!

They were sound asleep by 8pm and woke up at 6:35am, and I didn't even have to sleep deprive them! I had a couple of tricks that I did implement: We put together J's crib (side off) so that they were not just sleeping on the floor next to each other, I let them keep the lights on and 'talk' for about 10 minutes, and I put a blanket over the side of J's crib so that once he laid down the boys couldn't see one another. Well, I was pretty pleased that it worked!

So, this morning as we tried to figure out what to do and I was finishing getting ready for the day, I heard J scream. I wasn't surprised as my boys are often rough, but I saw his face and knew his brother was to blame.

D is not a biter, but for some reason this is the second time he has done this to J's face! D claimed he did nothing, but I reassured him that teeth marks come only from teeth. I talked to him and punished him, but sincerely hope this stops.

Now, for the fun part: we went to the Witte Museum this morning. We arrived at opening (10am) and were able to use our Children's Museum Membership from Fort Worth!

The boys loved the dinosaurs, but this was really not a children's museum. We had a good time being out of the house and walking around though. J stayed in the stroller and D did a great job staying close to me. We look forward to going back in June when the HEB Body Adventure opens up in the 'Treehouse.'

Haircut Tomorrow

Well, I finally made an appointment to get my haircut...for tomorrow morning! I have been wanting to get it cut off for awhile as it it often just in a ponytail during the day. I'm wanting to get bangs too! These are the pictures that I've picked out below. Any you especially like or don't like?

First Day of School

The boys got to go to their first day of school today! There was a tiny bit of ice on our windshield this morning but not enough for school to be cancelled- yay! I dropped them off at 9am and they both did great! It was hectic getting out of the apartment this morning and of course J needed to pee as soon as he was in the car, so we got unbuckled and ran back inside. Thankfully there was not traffic this morning and we were still early to meet the teachers.

In the car, D said "I've never lived in a house connected to other houses before." So I asked if he likes it and he responded yeah. But it seemed to be more of an observation than a positive or negative statement. Then after school, D asked to sleep in his own bed for nap, which means J needed to be in my room. I know D is trying to adjust to sharing a room with his brother and living in an apartment and I just hope it doesn't cause him to be worried about anything. D finally fell asleep after I made him get down from STANDING on top of his headboard!

While the boys were at pre-school from 9am-12pm, I was able to go to the front office at the apartment, write a few e-mails and do some more grocery shopping . Then daddy met us at home, so he could say hi to the boys and grab a quick lunch. Lily, our very energetic border collie, is also with us on this adventure and she has been doing well but as she becomes adjusted to the new place she is getting more energy! She has finally started to go the potty on a leash, which took a few days.

The boys loved their new school and took some pretty awesome naps again today, and then hubby came home and cooked dinner. Parmesan crusted tilapia (fresh farm raised tilapia from Mexico, I am against tilapia from India after reading a horrible article a while back about what they are fed) and some skillet red potatoes & red bell pepper. At first, D wouldn't touch his dinner but once provoked to taste the fish actually admitted he liked it- happens a lot around here!

Now trying to put the boys to sleep in the same room again... We put Jude's crib together so they are not sleeping on the floor next to each other and I picked up their room a little more. Hoping they can figure this out soon since it sounds like our 3 bedroom apartment will not be ready until 1-2 weeks after planned on Feb 5!

First Day of Work

Hubby's first day of work, in the office. He is coming home for lunch soon and we are ready!

The boys did not fall asleep in the same room. We moved D from our bed to his bed when we went to sleep. Then D woke up between 5:30-6am and started talking to J! Hubby put D on the couch till 'wake-up time,' which is 7 around here.

Hubby made the boys some breakfast and I got dressed. Maintenance was here at 8:30am as promised but just to check-in. Then the construction foreman came by around 9 and now we are waiting for the actual repairman. We got out a few times on bikes while we waited for the repairman.

The boys are getting tired and cranky from not sleeping well and we are taking a Sesame Street break before lunch.
They came at lunch and fixed our heat!!!

Yep- the boys were tired- they slept for 3 1/2 hours!!! Wow- yay! I got a little nap and 'got' to call health insurance.

Now a quick trip to Target with Daddy for a few more essentials and then our first home-cooked dinner in awhile! Pork chops with homemade shake n bake, garlic bread, and J's favorite veggie- sautéed spinach!

We tried to have the boys sleep together again and let them 'try' for 30 min, but it didn't work. We want to let them talk, but they both jump on the beds, go to the others bed, take away "lovies," come out of the door, etc. If anyone has any tips on how to get them to quietly go to bed- I'd love to hear them!

I am not looking forward to the freezing rain tonight and the inevitable cancelation of the boys first day of school, but am so thankful to have heat! Hoping for sanity tomorrow as we will likely be 'iced in.'

First Night 'Home'

The first night in our apartment was ... COLD! It was 40 degrees overnight! We have electricity and hot water but NO heat. We put the space heater in D's room and brought J in our bed to keep him warm. I woke up every time J rolled over plus a dozen times to go the bathroom. And did I mention how cold it is! It's taking a lot of will power to peel myself out of the warm covers.

I made it to Target with the boys 'bonking' heads and crying most of the time. We found a shower curtain and a trash can- that D helped hold onto in the cart. Also, I got a cute cap sleeve, striped maternity dress! Jude was so tired and kept holding on tight to my hand and laying on it. Such exhausting times with my boys are usually matched by the most lovey and needy of times.

We came home to an empty, yet very full house! Daddy was gone but all the boxes and furniture were inside! The boys played for a bit, and ate  raspberries, PB&Js, string cheese, and peas- a fairly normal lunch. Now hopefully the longest naps EVER!!!

Hubby and his brother are off to get some food and a beer to say thanks for all his help.

I got to sit for a moment on the patio with my faithful dog Lily and soak in some sunshine in 75 degrees!

Maintenance came by and said they will get the heat working tomorrow before the ICE storm tomorrow night!

Hubby took the moving truck back and his brother to the airport- WITH the boys. I got to take a nice long, quiet, hot shower AND dry my hair!

Now, getting ready to go out for dinner and J dumped his head in the toilet. D says "better not be in that toilet!" I put some more water on J's head and off we went to dinner! Oh life with little boys!

We went out to dinner... again. We are so ready to cook at home but don't want to pull out too much stuff for only 10 days. Dinner was wonderful at a little Greek place and the owner brought the boys a chocolate cake as we started eating- so that was the boys dinner! Oh to be young and so cute to always get free stuff :)

Now trying to let the boys sleep in the same room! J usually goes to bed a little after 7 and D about 8. But it is 8:30 and they have both gotten out of bed. D shouts cock-a-doodle-doo when ever J lies down. J climbs on D's head when he lies down! This may not work tonight!

Moving Day

Moving Day! Moving our family of 4 1/2 (I'm 5 months pregnant) from Fort Worth to San Antonio! We have 2 boys: D is almost 4 and J will be 2 next week!

Last night we were able to get the 22' truck completely full! By we, I mean my husband and his brother. I was merely a sorter of things! So we through in the crib mattress and some bedding and packed our RAV and we were ready to head out. Well, not without donuts first! We hit the road at 8:45am and immediately stopped for mints. Now we are really off... well with two little ones who are potty trained it's more like go, stop, go, stop... you get the picture!

We made it to Round Rock at 11:45am and seemed like it would be more convenient for lunch than taking a 22' truck through downtown Austin! Oh and while we are in Round Rock I HAD to stop at the outlets to get the boys shoes. Jude lost one shoe this week and he may have put it in a box somewhere but this happens to be his only pair of shoes at the moment. Back on the road! Then I HAD to to stop at Coffee Bean & Tea leaf in Austin. (It's a favorite from my CA college days!) J took a pretty good nap while Drew watched a movie and we thought we might make it the rest of the way, plus hubby's brother was already at the apartment with the moving truck! We made one more stop for a requested 'pee pee' break but the boys BOTH refused to go to the bathroom with me because there is no urinal in the women's!

We finally made it at 3:15pm, here to our new home for the next.... Oh 10 days! Yes you read that right! We are in brand apartment complex in a 2 bedroom apartment and waiting on a 3 bedroom apartment to be completed for move-in. So now the fun begins- unloading! Well, we thought this would be the best part but it turned out to be the most difficult. Caused by a combination of tired, excited, and confused little boys AND moving from 3600 sq ft to 950 sq ft. We have been shedding belongings and rented a storage unit trying to make ourselves fit into this space. After chasing the boys up and down the moving truck ramp and getting overly frustrated, I ended up trying to watch a movie with the boys while the moving continued. Then a quick fast food dinner brought back by daddy, we put the boys right to bed. The boys were wrestling too much since their mattresses are just on the floor and we has to separate them, so J is in our closet!

I convinced hubby and his brother to stop moving our stuff in for the night after dinner and to finish in the morning. They quickly obliged and left to pick up some beers. We are now trying to relax a bit and prepare for more tomorrow plus hopefully some grocery shopping!
